Quote #113: Lauren Fletcher

Hi, I'm Lauren Fletcher, Volunteer and Engagement Coordinator at Midland Center of the Arts and member of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. A quote that is meaningful to me is, "A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they shall never sit", an old Greek Proverb. The reason I find this quote so meaningful is it inspires myself and others to take actions (no matter the size) to support a flourishing future for those that will come after us. Good deeds are important even when you're not the person who will immediately reap the benefits. The future is dependent on the choices we make today, so plant seeds that will positively affect the greater good of the future community. This quote supports my wellbeing by reminding me to be intentional about the good I am putting into the world while being grateful for the good that was put into the world already which allows me to experience life as it is today.
