Life Hack #34: Values Check

Have you ever found yourself assessing your priorities after or even during a crisis? One of the reasons that post traumatic growth is so powerful is that adverse experiences can lead us to examine and clarify our values.

If you are like many people, we don’t give our values a second thought until some life experience bumps up against them and makes us feel uncomfortable.

What if we didn’t have to wait for a crisis to check our values?

Consider one of the fresh start times in your life, maybe it’s the new year, a new school year, the start of summer, whatever works for you. Whichever time of year you choose, take stock.

What do you value? Has this changed over time? Am I living these values?

This kind of intention can help us to make better decisions, which ultimately may help us to steer away from some of those challenges and assist us to make choices that help us build an authentic, meaningful life.
