Life Hack in Action #43: Power of Laughter

Hi, I’m Emily Migut. I work at the Dow Credit Union and work for and am a member of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. I am excited to share with you Life Hack #55, the Power of Laughter.

I love the power of laughter because it's such a simple yet powerful way to bring joy to your life. When you think of a time when you laughed so hard with friends or family, doesn't it instantly make you smile? Those moments are precious, and laughter has a way of lifting your spirits, even when you're feeling down or stressed. It's contagious—just like how negativity can spread, laughter can spread too, and it can turn your whole day around.

Personally, when I'm nervous or have to do something like speak in front of a group, I use humor to calm myself down. I imagine something funny, and by the time I get on stage, I'm more at ease because laughter helps me connect with people. It's hard to stay mad when you're laughing, right?

Laughter not only helps relieve stress but also strengthens bonds with others. If you want to try the life hack of laughter, start by sharing a funny story or joke with a group. It can be something silly or embarrassing that happened to you—everyone will laugh, and you'll create a moment that they'll remember and talk about later. It's a great way to start the day on a positive note and feel more connected with the people around you.
