Hi I’m Dawn Totten, I was apart of the Summer Midland Wellbeing Certificate Cohort. I'm also a teacher with the Midland County ESA.
I want to share with you Life Hack #77: Life Harmony. I chose this one because, like many of you, I often feel like my life is spinning out of control—like I’m stuck on a roller coaster that just won’t stop. Especially during busy times of the year, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But Life Harmony helps me shift my focus to the positives and roll with the changes that life throws my way.
For me, Life Harmony is about focusing on living a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life instead of trying to balance everything equally. It’s not about making sure everything gets the same attention—it’s about recognizing what matters most in the moment. I think of it like seasons. Just like it’s unrealistic to expect endless summer, life goes through seasons, too. Sometimes, family takes center stage. Other times, work or school demands more of your attention. The key is to embrace the season you’re in and find harmony within it.
I encourage you to explore what Life Harmony looks like for you. Start by identifying your goals and priorities—the ones that truly matter to you. Then, think about how you can weave those into your everyday life so you feel happy and fulfilled, even as your seasons shift. It’s also important to regularly check in on how you’re feeling. I use my emotions as a gauge. If you’re looking to try this life hack, my advice is to be creative and focus on what brings you joy. Think about what’s important to you—whether that’s crafting, going to the gym, or spending time with loved ones—and find ways to incorporate those things into your life. It doesn’t have to be perfectly balanced. Life is all about ebb and flow, and it’s okay if some things take a back seat for now. The season will change, and you’ll find new ways to bring harmony back into your life.
At the end of the day, it’s about surrounding yourself with what brings you joy—whether that’s activities, people, or moments that make your heart happy. It’s not about a perfect 50-50 balance; it’s about flowing with the changes and creating a life that feels good for you.
