I am Ashley Ghose, I am the lead assistant for the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition and a Life Coach who helps women transform stress into strength. I'm excited to share my Life Hack # 59 Investing in Small Wins.
A few years ago, I realized that just checking things off my list and moving on to the next task was leading to burnout. I wasn’t taking the time to acknowledge my achievements, whether they were small projects or months-long endeavors. This constant push left me feeling overwhelmed.
So, I started to make a conscious effort to pause and celebrate my accomplishments, even if it’s just for a moment. For example, after recording Life Hack in Action sessions, I’ll do a virtual high-five with the interviewee. This small act of recognition helps me feel more fulfilled and less burned out.
It's important to be intentional about celebrating the process, not just the end result. I’m still working on this practice and sometimes fall back into old habits. However, celebrating small wins helps me stay motivated, even with tasks I'm not excited about. It’s a way to recognize my effort and feel accomplished.
For anyone wanting to try this life hack, I suggest starting with the big things but also having fun with the small ones. Think of how you would celebrate a four-year-old’s achievements, like putting dishes in the dishwasher. I found it help to apply that same enthusiasm to your own small wins. It’s a fun and effective way to become more aware of all the things you can celebrate.
