Life Hack in Action #19: The Power of Possibility

"Hello, I'm Sharon Mortensen, CEO of the Midland Area Community Foundation. I'm also a proud member of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. I’m talking about Life Hack # 102, The Power of Possibility. This Life Hack supports my wellbeing because there are so many problems that can confront us on a daily basis at our work, in serving our community, and in our personal lives. Often, we find ourselves stuck in the problem, dwelling on what's wrong instead of exploring potential solutions. This trap can be counterproductive. By shifting our focus to proactive problem-solving and curiosity about alternative approaches, we unlock innovative solutions. Asking questions like ""What if?"" or ""How might I?"" redirects our thinking from dwelling on the problem to exploring possibilities. It transitions us from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset, helping us to tackle challenges creatively. It's key to recognize when we're caught in a ruminating thought cycle. When we catch ourselves, we can pause and ask questions that open the door to new solutions. This shift from seeing only problems to envisioning possibilities is energizing and fosters a proactive approach to challenges. To implement this life hack, remember when you find yourself dwelling on a problem, simply pause and ask empowering questions. This practice redirects your focus towards solutions and cultivates a mindset of possibility. So, next time you encounter a challenge, try embracing the power of possibility. Shift your focus from dwelling on the problem to exploring potential solutions. You'll be amazed at how this simple shift in mindset can lead to innovative solutions and enhance your overall wellbeing. "
