What’s your vision of your best self? Are you living that vision consistently? Some of the time? Not much at all? Have you ever even considered what your best self would be? Studies show that taking time to meet your best self can improve mood, resilience,and cultivate hope. Take time to write about what goals you have and more importantly, who you need to be to make those goals happen. Meet your best self. Consider what might be possible if you were using your strengths in service of those goals. Ideally, doing this exercise for about twenty minutes a day for a few days can provide a clear picture of who you want to be, provided you really get into the details and strengths that you would need to live into. Even smaller versions of this exercise can be effective though! In the morning, take a few minutes to reflect on what your best self would look like throughout the day, what strengths will be useful? Before a challenging meeting, consider how your best self might handle it and how your strengths can help you navigate it. When we take time to meet our best self- recognizing that we are all a work in progress and are perfectly imperfect – we can take steps toward becoming the best versions of ourselves.
