Wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t have to rely on our memory or our motivation so much? How can you use the environment around you to set yourself up for success? Studies show that many of our everyday behaviors are motivated by conscious and unconscious things in our environment. Called primers, they might be things we can see, smell, hear, touch, or taste. Because it is so normal for us to be conditioned very quickly, harnessing the power of primers can be very useful in building behaviors, thoughts, and feelings that we desire. Intentionally figure out what primers can work for you and then use them as a trigger for: sparking positive emotions, motivating progress toward goals, building good habits, activating useful memories, and serving as inspiration. The power of primers is endless! So, what primers can you use in different areas of your life that would best support your wellbeing?
