Quotes To Live By

Quote #212: Gary Billotti

Hi, my name is Gary Billotti. I am a card holding member of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition where I do some work to get the message out about this amazing organization. My numbers that describe me are 70, 47, 27, 13, 3, 1. So not to leave you hanging, they represent age, years married, years living in Midland, years retired, number of kids, number of grandchildren.

A quote I like is ...
"If you don't know where you're going, any road will get you there."
- Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland

Every now and then I remember this quote when I am working on a project and end up being caught in a do-loop, or just running round in circles. Sometimes I get caught up in the distractions that keep me from staying focused. Truth be told, it's probably more than sometimes that this occurs. Eventually, I realize that although I am feeling very busy, I'm not making real progress towards achieving the end goal.

When this occurs, my solution is to step back and think about what is important to get done in order to achieve the goal. I ask myself if what I'm doing is really helping me achieve my goals? Once I do that I can then focus on prioritizing my actions to make sure I'm using my time effectively, whether it is working on a personal achievement, improving my health, or completing a project.

Use your time wisely. The bad news is that time flies. the good news is that you are the pilot. Make a flight plan, and stick to it. You'll be glad you did.

Caveat - Take this advice with a grain of salt! Don't forget that there are times when wandering, exploring, being curious, or trying new things is important!
