Quote #99: Paula Rechner

Hi, I'm Paula, Mom, Daughter, Sibling, Surgeon and member of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. A quote that inspires me is from C.S. Lewis. “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.”

My children and any learner who is willing to listen will hear this version from me, “If I teach you nothing else, do the right thing especially when no one is watching.”

The reason this quote inspires me is that each evening we are forced to reconcile our decisions, words and actions of the day. If I know that I have demonstrated integrity and have done the right thing I can sleep better, do better the next morning and make the world a better place.

If we all use our moral compasses to guide us through the challenges of life we will have better wellbeing. We will know that we have done our best. No matter what your beliefs, you ultimately have to be able to live with yourself. This is a good place to start.
