Quotes To Live By
Quote #38: Meghan Dahl
Hi, I’m Meghan Dahl, LMSW, Behavioral Health Supervisor at MyMichigan Health and member of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. A quote that helps ground me is “Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things only hoped for” said by Epicurus. The reason I find this quote so grounding is that it is a reminder to not habituate to my blessings. We so quickly adjust to our small wins in life that they cease to feel like wins. This quote supports my wellbeing by helping me be actively grateful and mindful of aspects of my life that I take for granted. It also helps me move out of unhelpful patterns of social comparison. So, I’m curious—what do you have now in your life that was once only hoped for, and how can you take a moment to cherish that? This has been brought to you by the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition’s Quotes to Live By series. Thank you for reading!
